My name is Milorad Ivović. Thank you for visiting my personal website.

This information is provided as a bit of an introduction to the author here, and perhaps will serve to illustrate where I’m coming from with my blog posts.

People often ask me these sorts of questions either on MSN or by eMail, so I thought it prudent to just put up a page I could refer them to, rather than re-typing it.

As it turns out, this page is really long, so you’ll be glad to know there’s no quiz. There’s no real way of posting a page like this and not seeming self-absorbed, but in reality its pretty far from the truth. I do like myself, but I don’t need to read this stuff. This page exists for those who care, and in the interests of disclosure.

Vocation

I run a small System Integration company which offers innovative business solutions, as well as really useful (and cool) lifestyle enhancement technologies. If I were smarter, I would never allow my company to be associated with this blog since I’m fully aware that opinionated people such as myself should keep their mouths shut if they don’t want to offend anyone. However, since I’m not smarter, I’ll have to trust you (the reader) to keep an open mind as to my thoughts, and to point out alternate viewpoints.

Although I have been involved in various aspects of information technology for 15 years now, I also have a background in desktop publishing, graphic design, drafting, 3D animation and digital video production.

Values & Beliefs

I’m a Secular Humanist and a futurist. Though I do not subscribe to anyone else’s definition of my thoughts, I have found that Secular Humanism most closely resembles my own outlook.

I believe that our values are intrinsic to the human social instinct, rather than being prescribed by a deity or religion.

I think that ‘faith’ is the thing which inspires us to find truth, for without faith, we would never start searching. I think ‘belief’ is the thing which makes us struggle for proof, and that proof is the justification of our faith and belief. I think proof is of paramount importance, and to give up the search for it, is to abandon belief and lose faith.

I place strong emphasis on personal responsibility, self-education, loyalty and dedication.

Interests

Technology is perhaps my main love. I have a short attention span, and technology is the sort of field that changes so rapidly that its simply not stagnant enough to ever become boring. If you’re interested in what tickles my transistors, take a look at the Technology category here.

My taste in music is very broad, ranging from really girly pop music all the way to stuff my parents might organise an exorcism for. I love Science Fiction movies and TV shows even if they’re bad, and I own a lot of them on DVD. Beyond Sci-Fi, I have a penchant for investigative dramas in whichever field, be they legal, medical or otherwise.

They say “there’s no love more true than the love of food” and as a serious gastronome I very much believe that. I insist on eating well regularly, and I also love to exercise my creativity in the kitchen. I don’t mind saying I’m pretty good, but I absolutely hate the cleaning up process, which is why I don't do it more often.

I have very broad interests as will be come evident the more you browse this site.  As a function of self-respect, I have a compulsion to gain a functional understanding of everything I’ve ever found interesting. Though I don’t consider myself an expert at many things, I do pride myself on my ability to hold a conversation on pretty much any subject.

Personality

When it was first suggested to me to do a personality test, I rolled my eyes. However to my dismay it has proven stunningly accurate, even the bad parts.  Part of me hates that I can be reduced to a few paragraphs so easily, but mostly it's just nice to be understood.

According to the Jung Typology Test and the SimilarMinds tests, my Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is ENTP. ENTPs constitute 3-4% of the population (3.2% of USA) making us fairly rare.  If you're interested, you can check out my personality profle.
