10,000 cans of lunch meat on the wall…
This site used to bear the tagline "a website you don't visit, by a man you don't know".

That's as true today as it was back then, but unfortunately it doesn't apply to spammers. I've just broken 10,000 spam messages since the re-launch of this site on the 31st of August 2007. That means that less than 5% of my comments are genuine people.
... and that's in spite of all I've done to reduce the incidence of spam ever being posted in the first place, like removing the more obvious honeypots and IP-blocking repeat offenders.
For the most part, the internet is a horrible place and we're all just doing our best to keep from sinking into the cesspool (except on Saturdays when I get all dressed up and dive into it).

lol Milo thats a hell of a lot of spam!
Also happy birthday for last week. I’m being blokey and saying this a week late I know!! Hope you had a good day :)
Thanks BJ…
The surprise party you organised was great, but I have to admit I almost had a heart attack. A week later you start to think it’s not gonna happen, then BAM! ;)
hey Milo - was good to talk to ya last week. guess what, if you got your butt onto Facebook we could be chatting right now!
actually bleachy is on there now too, but as usual hes taking about 20mins to reply to anything i say *sigh*.
oh well shall have computer with WLM functioning before too long and we can have a nice b-bashing sesh, heh
ps. sorry for spamming your SPAM thread. lol
You chose well ;)
I’ve been in meetings all afternoon otherwise I might have even put on my hazmat suit and jumped on facebook for once.
Oh well ;)
Hi - promise, more than just spammers read the blog. :)
Have a question for you if you don’t mind - and if you do, well, then just don’t answer! ;)
I’m tired of searching WP codex and forums and not finding what I need.
When I used to have MT, I was able to the blog author comments a different way, just like you are doing here. But I can’t figure it out in WP.
Could you take pity on me and please tell me how the heck you did it?
Thanks, in advance, just in case you don’t ignore me. :D
I don’t mind easy questions Christine, it’s the hard ones that make me look bad :)
I did mine kind of manually, but there is a much easier way. Check out the Highlight Author Comments plugin.
Thanks for stopping by with stories of real humans on the internet :)
Thank you! I’ll go and check it out, as well as seeing if I can find a way without plugin, now that you’ve clued me as to what search words to use. I don’t know what I was thinking, but author comments was not in there. :(
I see you’re using 2.5.1 for WP. Hmmm, I am not an updater geek, but solely for the gallery function, I might have to figure out how to upgrade painlessly. :)
Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks for having a site that is informative, amusing and entertaining, even while ranting occasionally. :D
