Portrait: Soft Focus on Black

This portrait is my first real attempt at a combination very mild soft-focus look.  Part of it is a filter, the rest is Photoshop.

Ultimately, I'm not a huge fan of the look, but I'm yet to master properly textured skin-smoothing, so for now it'll have to do.

I really think soft-focus works best when there are interesting highlights in the scene (unlike in this image) but not necessarily on the subject itself.
