NaBloPoMo
There's kind of a cool blogging initiative happening this month called NaBloPoMo, which is short for National Blog Posting Month. The basic idea is to join in and ensure you post once per day for the month of November.
There's a promotional site and the whole kit, which encourages passers by and other NaBloPoMo participants to tour the circuit of bloggers and spread the love. Not a bad way to increase your readership amongst the blogging community itself.
Unfortunately -- and you'd think I'd be used to it by now -- the name is a little insular and exclusive. Since I'm not American, joining National Blog Posting Month seems a bit like being a vegetarian keynote speaker at a pig farmers' convention. It's a great idea though, and there is a hefty little posting frenzy going on, so if you're bored you can check out the sort of shit people write about when they have to post once a day. Click the randomizer for pot-luck.
Maybe I could find a suitable gimmick to latch onto.

Blogging is contagious I think. I’m getting very tempted to start one.
If I went ahead with it, would you help me set it up? Do I need to register a web address to be one of the cool kids, or is there another way to get started?
Sure Yasemin… if you want your own web address I can certainly help. If you’re not all that keen, you can head over to wordpress.com and set up your own blog in a minute.
The nice thing about that is you can transfer it to your own hosted blog quite easily if you decide you’re going to stick at it.
